"Monthly Morning Meetings" are a community building practice at VPES. Each month, a different grade hosts this meeting in the gym and it is done in the same way a single classroom may have a morning meeting. Students are all greeted and welcomed by grade, they say the pledge, they make announcements, celebrate students who have been especially helpful or kind, sing the school song, and then head on to class. It provides leadership opportunities for the sponsoring class and sets a tone of compassion and community throughout the school. The second part of this particular morning meeting was - it was pajama day! The kids were so cute - even the staff got into the fun.
