Introducing the Eagle Feather Phone Call

We are thrilled to share a new initiative at Veterans Park School called the Eagle Feather Phone Call. This is an acknowledgement that students can receive for an outstanding contribution that makes life a little bit better for everyone at VP. It is often the small, simple things that go unnoticed that make a huge impact. Anyone at school can observe some special behavior and staff members or students can tell the principal about it, either verbally or in writing. She will locate that student and they will go to her office together to make the Eagle Feather Phone Call to a parent right then and there! It is truly the best part of our principal's day. She has made twelve phone calls in the past two weeks. Some examples of what students have done to receive their phone call were:

  • Voluntarily putting away recess equipment
  • Making a smart choice to sit in a place where their best learning was possible
  • Voluntarily cleaning up in the cafeteria daily
  • Voluntarily holding the door open for classmates every day as they exit for recess
  • Voluntarily getting food for a friend in the cafeteria when a lunch bag was misplaced and the student was upset
Thank you, PTA!

The VP Spirit Run was such a wonderful event. The weather surely cooperated and the whole community came together with such a positive energy! What a great way to raise money and enjoy the camaraderie of students, parents, and staff. A special thank you to "the Megans" for coordinating a fantastic fundraiser and to everyone who participated in this fantastic event.
